I was a juror in a criminal case earlier this week. I went for jury duty with the idea of comparing the experience with representations of court proceedings in narrative media. I wasn’t exactly hoping to be selected for a jury, but I also wasn’t trying to avoid it. What follows are just my observations, and I hope I don’t seem to be making them out to be more noteworthy than they are. My experience as a juror was probably pretty typical.
